One Brand, Every Occasion: A Complete Toolkit for a Member Organization
How Rare Standard built a member organization a complete, self-serve brand toolkit (website, templates, stationery, and event collateral) so a non-design team stays on-brand.
Client
A Japanese member organization that runs events and member communications
Engagement
Multi-year brand toolkit build, 13 projects

A Japanese member organization needed to look and feel like one coherent brand across everything it does: a website, member communications, presentations, stationery, and the events and galas at the center of its calendar. The catch? It is run by staff and volunteers, not designers. We built it a complete, reusable brand toolkit: website production, presentation and newsletter templates, a stationery system, and full event collateral, from gala invitations and booklets to merchandise, photo, and video. The result is a self-serve brand system. The team can produce on-brand materials for the next event or newsletter without commissioning design from scratch each time, and the organization presents consistently to its members and guests across every occasion.
Snapshot
A member organization’s brand shows up at a gala, in a newsletter, on a business card, and on stage. Consistency can’t depend on hiring a designer for each one.
Sector: member organization (events + member communications) · Market: Japan · Engagement: multi-year brand toolkit build, 13 projects · Scope: website production, presentation and newsletter templates, stationery, gala and event collateral (invitations, booklet, merch, photo/video), lecture documentation · Model: reusable templates and a system so a non-design team stays on-brand.

The business situation
The organization’s brand had to appear consistently across a wide spread of touchpoints: digital (website, newsletters), everyday (business cards, presentations), and high-visibility events (an annual gala, lectures). Each one is an occasion where members and guests judge the institution. But with no in-house design function, every touchpoint risked being made ad hoc, off-brand, and from scratch. At an institution, that inconsistency reads as a lack of seriousness.
The requests came one occasion at a time: an invitation, a PowerPoint template, a set of newsletter layouts. The real need was a toolkit, reusable templates and a coherent system a non-design team could operate on its own, so the brand stayed consistent between commissions and the organization stopped paying to reinvent the same materials. For a team without designers, the deliverable isn’t the asset. It’s the template that lets them make the next asset correctly themselves.
