FAQ
Do you do brand strategy or brand identity work?
We do not create brand identity or brand strategy from scratch. That work belongs to brand strategists and creative agencies and we can help you find the right partner for that stage. What we do build are local extensions and market adaptations of your existing brand. If your identity system needs to be extended for a new region, adapted for a local audience, or operationalized as a subset of the global framework, that is core to what we do. The foundation must already exist. We make it work across markets.
Do you replace our existing agencies?
No. In most cases, we work alongside them. Rare Standard sits between the brand and its agency partners, providing the operational layer that keeps everyone aligned. If you work with multiple agencies across markets, that coordination gap is often where clarity breaks down. We close it. We define how the brand operates so your agencies can execute with less friction and fewer revision cycles.
Will you build our website?
We are not a web development or design studio, so we do not build websites from the ground up. However, if the work is an extension of your brand system — a localized microsite, a campaign landing page, or a digital experience that needs to operate within your existing brand framework — we can design and produce it. We also work alongside your technical partners when development is required, ensuring the brand operates consistently within whatever is built.
What industries do you work with?
We are not industry-specific. Our clients span technology, consumer goods, entertainment, telecommunications and professional services. The common thread is complexity. Organizations operating across multiple markets, managing multiple agency relationships, or scaling brand presence beyond a single region. If your brand must remain coherent under that kind of operational pressure, the industry is secondary.
Do you work in languages other than Japanese?
Yes. We are fully bilingual in Japanese and English and operate across both contexts daily. Most of our clients are global organizations managing brand presence in the Japanese market. That means we regularly bridge headquarter teams working in English with local teams and partners operating in Japanese. The work is not just translation. It is ensuring that intent carries across language, culture and market context.
