Job Overview

As the Account Director, you’ll be the client’s trusted advisor, the bridge between creative teams and client needs, and the driver of new opportunities. You will lead client relationships with authority and empathy, ensuring projects are aligned with business goals while identifying growth opportunities. This role requires strategic thinking, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to inspire teams to deliver outstanding results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Partnership: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering deep trust and long-term relationships.

  • Strategic Alignment: Understand the client’s business model, industry, and challenges, and tailor RS’s services to meet their goals.

  • Proactive Business Development: Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and co-creating new projects that benefit both clients and RS.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and creative teams to ensure smooth project delivery and consistent communication.

  • Problem-Solving: Anticipate client concerns, address them proactively, and offer customized solutions that protect and grow the partnership.

  • Revenue and Profitability Management: Ensure that client accounts are profitable and that revenue growth is aligned with RS’s financial objectives.

  • Feedback and Improvement: Continuously gather client feedback and share insights with internal teams to enhance service delivery and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years in account management, brand strategy, or client services within creative or branding agencies.

  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of financial principles, profitability, and strategic growth.

  • Client-Focused Mindset: Ability to deeply understand clients’ businesses and industry landscapes.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, inspire collaboration, and deliver results under deadlines.

  • Adaptability: Ability to navigate changing client needs and re-align strategies as necessary.

  • Proactive Communication: Exceptional communication skills in both Japanese and English, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.

  • Native or Professional Japanese
